La Liga has suspended its season amid growing concerns about the spread of coronavirus. The Spanish league is the second major European soccer league to halt play due to coronavirus.
And La Liga is planning to restart the season on May 28. However, the matches are expected to be played behind closed door at the end of the season.
Speaking to media, Barcelona manager Quique Setein hopes two weeks of training is enough for the players to get ready for playing matches again whenever football returns after the coronavirus outbreak.
“To be honest, what’s happening is unbelievable. I start to coach Barcelona and then a disaster hits us. In the last few days, I have read more about the coronavirus than football.” Setein said.
“We all want to finish the season even if it’s behind closed doors. But I want guarantees that no problems will occur. I hope two weeks of training is enough for the players to get ready for playing matches again.” Setein added.
The Blaugrana are looking to reinforce their attacking options, with Luis Suarez becoming injury-prone as he ages.
Inter’s Lautaro Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar are two are showing immense potential to become great assets for the club in the summer.
“I’m neither pessimistic nor optimistic about Lautaro. I admire great players and I have no delusions with any player.” Setein said.
“I see Neymar’s arrival quite complicated. I think it’s financially difficult for him to arrive at such a difficult time.” he added.
Barcelona currently sit a narrow 2 points clear at the top of the table. It is not known if the Spanish La Liga season will be finished due to the world coronavirus outbreak.
However, La Liga could restart as early as May 28 as there is a well thought-out plan in place for behind closed doors action.
