Due to coronavirus outbreak, Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta told reporters that he would like to publish a new MotoGP calendar in early June.
“We started to work on different scenarios. I understand that it will be tough, but there is the possibility of starting again.” Ezpeleta said.
“We are in contact with the various circuits to see which ones will be able to accommodate a Grand Prix, but we think that we will be able to resume at the end of July and continue until November. There is also the possibility of having several races on the same circuit, over two consecutive weekends.” Ezpeleta added.
The details of MotoGP’s protocol for a return to track, which ideally would continue for two weeks before the races resumed.
“Our desire is to do it at the beginning of June, even earlier if there is a chance. We will not go further than the end of November. I believe we can organize at least 10 races, 14 would be ideal.” Ezpeleta said.
“I am not saying that we will not go outside Europe. I am in contact with all the circuits and I do not rule out this option. Of course, long trips will be more complicated to organize, but we will try to do them if possible.
“I don’t think the Austrian Grand Prix will be our first race, we would like to keep it the same date (August 16) and start the season earlier.
“For the moment in Misano, but let’s not give up for Mugello, it’s still possible. But with the Misano circuit, the discussions are at a more advanced stage, also thanks to the help of San Marino which makes it easier for us to drive behind closed doors.” he added.
According to reports, team staffs would have to wear gloves and face masks, while riders would also be required to do so until they get onto the track.
