The former Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini said there is a lot games still to play in the Serie A campaign. Inter lost to a good team Juventus that were really well-organised, good physicality, strong in the air and so fast on the counterattack.
Juventus moved a point ahead of idle Lazio and nine ahead of Inter, which also had a game suspended last March.
Mancini believes similar surprises could follow in Serie A, potentially bringing Antonio conte’s side back into the mix, although he thinks Bianconeri’s strength in depth makes them favourites.
“Lazio and Juve will play until the end. But since they started playing in the Serie A, the home field factor has actually been wiped out. I think that Inter can still have possibilities.
“In my opinion, there may be some surprises. But then it is clear that Juve have an advantage because they have a very large squad.” Mancini said.
Serie A will restart on June 20 after a two-month hiatus caused by the Covid-19 outbreak, but will play in stadiums without fans and with stringent health protocols.
Inter were among a number of Serie A clubs to return to training for the first time since the campaign was suspended.
“All the coaches will have a bit of a problem. The players have come from two months of home training. Returning to work on the pitch and resuming playing immediately with competitive games will not be easy.” Mancini said.
“The tempo of the matches is much slower. German football does not have the tempo that we are seeing and, in the first games, I think that even in Italy we will not have an extraordinary tempo.” Mancini added.
As a club manager, Mancini won several Coppa Italia titles with 3 Italian clubs and he also won Serie A 3 times with Inter.
