Bulgarian heavyweight boxer Kubrat Pulev (28-1, 14Kos) has refused a new schedule, he admitted that he will not give way to Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21 Kos) and Tyson Fury for the latter to fight with the four division titles at stake.
Pulev, a former world heavyweight hampion, was Joshua’s IBF crown contender, but their June 20 fight at the 70,000-seat Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I don’t understand why we keep pushing it off instead of finding a date that would work. Enough is enough. I can’t wait to win this fight. I can understand that some fighters are afraid and try to avoid me. But this is not how a world champion should act.” Pulev said.
“We have signed contracts for that fight and everything is ready. We worked on this contract for maybe two months and it was not so easy. But now we have this contract I am ready.
“I don’t want to wait. I want the title fight with Anthony Joshua and I will bet him really good and get the second knockout against him.” Pulev added.
In June 2019, Joshua was knocked out by Andy Ruiz in seventh round. The Briton lost his three world titles. Joshua lost his perfect record. However, six months later he avenged the defeat, out-pointing an out-of-shape Ruiz to reclaim his titles, in Saudi Arabia.
Pulev was knocked out in five rounds by Wladimir Klitschko on November 15, 2014, in Hamburg, Germnay, in a bid for the IBF, WBA, and WBO titles.
“I did it for the first time when I didn’t have to have Joshua get his second fight against Ruiz. Everything was against IBF regulations, but I accepted the compromise.” Pulev said.
“A year has passed since then, and there is always a new reason to postpone. There are two options: you get into the arena or you give up the title.” Pulev added.
