Bayern Munich managed to make sure to become champions of the German Bundesliga after winning 1-0 at Werder Bremen headquarters on Tuesday (16/6).
An additional three points from the match against Bremen makes Munich’s collection of points to 76 points. Note that points ensure Thomas Mueller and his friends will not be able to be pursued by Borussia Dortmund in the rest of the Bundesliga this season.
Munchen’s success in becoming the Bundesliga champion has made them have eight successive seasons to be the best in Germany since the 2012/2013 season.
From the course of the match, Bayern Munich had difficulty dismantling the Werder Bremen defense. Bremen who want to escape from the relegation zone also not only survive, but several times provide threats.
The deadlock in the first round finally broke in the 43rd minute. Mainstay Bomber ‘FC Hollywood’, Robert Lewandowski successfully thrilled the Bremen goalkeeper guarded by Jiri Pavlenka.
This goal stems from the foresight of Munich central defender, Jerome Boateng releasing the ball into the penalty box of Bremen. Lewandowski can read the direction of the ball and escape the offside trap.
After holding the ball with his chest, Lewandowski immediately fired hard shots that could not dammed by Pavlenka.
Lewandowski’s goal turned out to be the only goal that was created in the match. Munchen could not score additional goals in the second half but it was enough to ensure the championship trophy was in their hands.
Here are the records and facts carved by Bayern Munich after the 2019/2020 Bundesliga champions:
- Bayern Munich set a record as the only German League team to win eight Bundesliga titles in a row. Undeniable dominance in the German League.
- David Alaba and Thomas Muller equaled Franck Ribery’s record, the player who won the Bundesliga title nine times.
- Hansi Flick became the third person to successfully win the Bundesliga title for Bayern Munich as a player and coach, following in the footsteps of Franz Beckenbauer and Niko Kovac. Flick tasted the Bundesliga as a Bayern player in 1985/1986, 1986/1987, 1988/1989, and 1989/1990.
- Only Juventus (35 in Serie A) and Real Madrid (33 in La Liga) have won more domestic league titles than Bayern who have collected 30 titles, including the pre-Bundesliga era.
- Kingsley Coman won the seventh league title in a row in three different teams. Two titles were won with Paris Saint-Germain, one at Juventus, and four league trophies were won with Bayern Munich.
