Khabib Nurmagomedov confirmed the news would be against Justin Gaethje in the UFC fight on October 24.
Khabib has not yet commented on the UFC after the death of his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. However, he uploaded a photo on his Insta Story Instagram account for the Khabib vs Gaethje battle schedule on 24 October.
In his Instagram account, Khabib also showed off photos of re-training after his father died. He trained with another fighter who is his cousin, Usman Nurmagomedov.
Usman will play the UFC battle in Abu Dhabi on July 31. “Training continues. Usman Nurmagomedov will perform in Abu Dhabi on July 31. Good luck my brother,” he wrote.
The series of uploads also confirmed the claims of the President of the UFC, Dana White, about the match Khabib vs Gaethje at the UFC.
Earlier, White claimed Russia’s match against Gaethje was confirmed on October 24th. However, the exact location of the battle is not yet certain.
“The fight will take place. I can tell you now, the fight will take place. Khabib vs Gaethje, October 24,” White said.
White also said that Khabib was still in mourning after the departure of Abdulmanap who was also his coach.
“The situation is so severe for Khabib. His father is a hero to him, he loves his father, they have a very close relationship and it is very hard for him,” White was quoted as saying by CNN.
During this time, speculation arises that Nurmagomedov will retire, but an upload on Instagram shows Nurmagomedov has returned to training. The lightweight undefeated stronghold, has not yet confirmed its readiness to ride the octagon again.
