Marc Marquez Will Remain in the Hospital for 48 Hours before Return to the Track

The Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez, who broke his right arm at the Spanish Grand Prix, underwent humerus surgery for the second time on Monday and will remain in hospital for 48 hours.

Dr. Xavier Mir carried out the successful operation on the Spaniard in Dexus clinic, as for the first surgery.

“Marc Marquez underwent surgery 13 days ago and today he returned to the operating room. The first operation was successful, what was not expected was that the plate was insufficient.” Dr. Mir said.

“An accumulation of stress in the operated area has caused the plate to suffer some damage, so today the titanium plate has been removed and replaced by a new fixation.

“The rider has not felt pain during this period. He has always followed the medical advice given and the feeling from his body. Unfortunately, an over stress has caused this issue. Now we have to wait 48 hours to understand the recovery time.” Dr. Mir added.

In these days, Marquez has been posting on his social media profiles images in full swing to try recover his perfect physical shape in view of another return to racing.

Three days after his operation on Tuesday 21, Marquez took part in the free practice of the Andalusian GP on Friday 24, then forfeited the qualifying sessions and the Sunday race, won like the previous one by the young Yamaha Petronas SRT rider Fabio Quartararo.

The next three Grands Prix of this MotoGP season disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic are scheduled for August 9 at Brno in Czech Republic, then August 16 and 23 in Austria, on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg where F1 had launched its season 2020, with two races in early July.
