Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi reportedly bought a luxury apartment in the city of Milan, Italy. Based on the SportMediaset report, on Tuesday (11/8/2020) the residence that Messi bought is close to the house of his father, Jorge. It is known, Jorge has indeed received a residence permit in Milan.
The news about Messi buying a luxury apartment in Milan sounds reasonable, given his status as a football star with abundant wealth. But on the other hand, Messi’s decision to buy an apartment in Milan again caused hot news regarding his opportunity to join Inter Milan.
Apart from being close to his father’s residence, the apartment that Messi purchased was also not far from Inter Milan’s head office, which is located in the Porta Nuova area. This news also makes Messi’s future at Barcelona in question again.
Messi’s contract at Barcelona will expire at the end of June 2021. Until now, the Argentine striker has reportedly not signed a new contract. The tug-of-war on the new contract has made Messi said to have the opportunity to leave Barcelona. Thus, it is said that Inter Milan being one of the clubs interested in bringing in the owner of the six Ballon d’Or titles.
Some time ago, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Inter had prepared £ 235 million to bring Messi from Barcelona. The club, nicknamed the Nerazzurri, is reportedly willing to give Messi a four-year contract with a fee of £ 60 million per season.
Regarding the news, Giuseppe Marotta, CEO of Inter Milan, revealed that the idea of bringing Messi in was just a fantasy or wishful thinking. However, according to Marotta, Inter still have the opportunity to bring Messi to the Giuseppe Meazza if the 33-year-old player decides to leave Barcelona.
“Everyone likes Messi, but we have to be realistic,” Marotta told DAZN. “He is a great player who has found his comfort zone at Barcelona. I have to say that (the transfer) is just a fantasy,” he added. “But if Messi says goodbye to Barcelona, we have to take chances. I don’t know if this can happen,” concluded Marotta. Messi in fact has been joining Barca as senior team player since 2005.
