Tennis News: In his first match of the season, Andy Murray managed to win after struggling to claim 7-6, 3-6, 6-1 over host Frances Tiafoe at the Cincinnati Open (Western & Southern Open).
Andy Murray former world number 1, appearing for the first time at an ATP tournament since winning his 46th career title at Antwerp in October last season. Murray secured a set point chance in the first set tiebreak and won the third effortlessly to secure a place at second half after 2 hours 28 minutes.
“I think I moved well today (22/08). “It’s probably what makes me most happy and it’s probably the thing I’m most worried about playing this match,” admitted Murray.

“I think I’m moving pretty well. My game could get better. Then At the end of the game, I did some good things, but I can definitely improve my game.”
Entering the tiebreak first set, Murray’s double foul gave Tiafoe a 5/2 lead, But Murray didn’t give up, he even secured a set point chance at 5/6 before Murray won the next two points to win the first set.
In the second set, Tiafoe did better until he managed to force the deciding set. But He couldn’t hold on to the momentum after Murray opened the decisive set 3-0 up.
Murray played decisively and took advantage of the errors that flowed from Tiafoe’s racket for a crucial advantage before securing himself through to the second half.
Murray will next face world number 7 Alexander Zverev for a place in the third round, Two-time champion in Cincinnati (2008 and 2011), He took a 1-0 lead against young German Zverev when they met in the first round of the 2016 Australian Open.
“Zverev has definitely been in the top 10 in the last few seasons. The match against him will be a good test for me for sure. Then He moves well for a player who is big enough and is playing solidly. He sometimes has trouble with his serve. When he serves well, he’s definitely one of the world’s top tennis players, ”Murray commented on Zverev.
