Andy Ruiz: “I Was So Happy That Whyte Got Knocked Out”

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz (33-2-0, 22 KOs), verbally attacked one of his pretentious rivals, Dillian Whyte (27-2-0, 18 KOs), who was brutally knocked out on Saturday night in the fight site, Matchroom’s Fight Camp, in Brentwood, Essex.

Whyte, who was the mandatory WBC title contender, was knocked down by a hard-hitting uppercut from the left in the fifth round in his fight with the former WBA champion, Russian Alexander Povetkin (36-2-1, 25 KOs).

Povetkin floored by Whyte twice in the fourth round and he seemed to be in trouble when he placed that uppercut that suddenly knocked the Briton out.

“I was so happy that Whyte got his a*** knocked the f**. You know what, because he doesn’t have respect for the fighters, that’s what gets me p***ed off.” Ruiz said.

Ruiz has nuked Whyte with hopes of getting a fight sooner rather than later. However, the Briton has made his intentions clear, it seems like the two boxers will not be facing each other anytime soon.

The two Ruiz and Whyte were shown on the same card in December 2019 in Saudi Arabia. Whyte had hardly beaten on points on Mariusz Wach in the underchart, while Ruiz suffered a unanimous decision loss in twelfth round rematch to Anthony Joshua (23-1-0, 21 KOs) in the main event.

Whyte insisted he wants fight Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) anytime soon. However, the-32-year-old has lost his chance to fight in a mandatory WBC heavyweight title fight against champion Fury.

Fury on the other hand, he will face Deontay Wilder in trilogy fight in December. Their last fight took place this February which saw the Gypsy King come out of the ring victorious via seventh round stoppage.

Whyte reportedly intends to take an immediate rematch this year after he suffered a brutal knockout loss to Povetkin.
