Inter Milan won a dramatic 4-3 victory over Fiorentina in the Italian League match at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, Sunday (27/9).
Inter, who acted as the host, were 0-1 behind the visitors when the game had only been running for three minutes.
Christian Kouame put his name on the scoreboard after receiving Giacomo Bonaventura’s pass. Kouame’s shot from close range found Inter’s goal.
After conceding, Inter had difficulty developing the game. La Beneamata found it difficult to get out of the pressure of Fiorentina who played aggressively.
Inter were awarded a penalty in the 19th minute when Lautaro Martinez was fouled by Martin Caceres. However, the referee canceled the penalty claim after seeing the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
The goal that Inter had been waiting for came only at the end of the first half. Lautaro managed to thrill Fiorentina’s goal after receiving Nicolo Barella’s pass.
At the start of the second half, Inter turned 2-1 ahead. Bait given Lautaro tried to be blocked by Federico Ceccherini. However, the ball actually leads to the goal itself.
Fiorentina who performed well only took five minutes to make the score 2-2. A pass from Franck Ribery was not wasted by Gaetano Castrovili to break into Samir Handanovic’s goal.
Fiorentina was even able to excel for the second time in this match. Federico Chiesa put his name on the scoreboard after first beating Handanovic and making the score 3-2.
Inter, who were on the verge of defeat, continued to struggle to score goals. The hard work paid off after Romelu Lukaku and Danilo D’Ambrosio scored in the last 10 minutes of the second half to make it 4-3.
Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte is not satisfied with the 4-3 win over Fiorentina in the Italian League.
After the match, Conte highlighted the weakness of Inter’s defense in anticipating the visitors’ counterattacks.
“Three points are certainly important. But I have to be fair to evaluate the overall performance of the team,” Conte told DAZN quoted by the Italian Football.
“We attacked a lot and created problems for Fiorentina, but at the same time we were not focused enough to anticipate their counter-attacks,” added Conte.
Inter this season is eager to decide on the dominance of Juventus from the Italian League title. However, the Nerazzurri appeared less convincing in the first match.
Romelu Lukaku and his friends have to work hard to ensure victory through crucial goals in the final minutes. While their rival team, Juventus, won 3-0 victory over Sampdoria.
These results become material for Conte’s evaluation to fix the strength of the team. He does not want his squad to focus only on attacking and missing defense.
“The players know we have to fix this problem as we have to defend and attack equally. Balance is the key to everything, and we have to pay for the mistake tonight,” explained Conte.
