Toto Wolff Confirms to Stay at Mercedes

Toto Wolff, a father of three, regrets not having seen the first two grow up because of his very demanding work, but admits that in recent years he has been able to enjoy his youngest child a little more, which he has with his current wife, Sussie Wolff.

At the end of this 2020 season, the Austrian’s contract between him and Mercedes will come to an end and so far Wolff has yet to make his decision on the exact role he will take on in the team.

Asked by Sky Sports if he was still motivated to continue leading F1’s best team since the introduction of hybrid engines in 2014, Toto Wolff said he will make a decision in the best interests of his family.

“I think I’m very lucky to have a three-and-a-half-year-old son and to live in Britain because I do with him what I couldn’t do with my older children.” Wolff said.

“I have a fantastic relationship with them, Benedict has finished high school and is going to go to college and Rosa is about to go too.

“I like simple things like taking my son to kindergarten, picking him up and spending the weekend together.  This is something that I have discovered now and have never done before, because I used to say goodbye in the morning and not come back until dark.” Wolff added.

Wolff left Williams team in 2013 to become an executive director of the Mercedes. Under his regime Mercedes won its fifth consecutive double world championship.

“Thanks to that, my quality of life has improved and I love it. I also feel very lucky to continue to have a very strong bond with my older children. They call me when they have problems and we try to see each other frequently.” Wolff said.

“I am not resigning from my position as team leader, but I am looking to the future to see how I might get involved in the team. It’s not that I’m going to quit the team entirely, but I’m going to look at other options.” he added.
