AC Milan drew 3-3 against AS Roma in the Italian League continued match at the San Siro Stadium, Tuesday (27/10). Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored two goals in this match.
AC Milan was 1-0 up when the game had only been running for two minutes. Ibrahimovic’s shot took advantage of Rafael Leao’s breakthrough bait tore into Roma’s net.
Roma could only equalize the score to 1-1 in the 15th minute. Ciprian Tatarusanu’s mistake in anticipating a corner kick made it easier for Edin Dzeko to break into Milan’s goal.
Milan and Roma attacked each other for the remainder of the first half. However, no additional goals were created and the score 1-1 lasted until the first half ended.
At the start of the second half, Milan managed to win 2-1 over Roma. Leao’s measured pass from the left side was not wasted by Alexis Saelemaekers to break into Mirante’s goal through a shot from close range.
Roma almost equalized on the counter attack in the 53rd minute. Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s bait was greeted by Dzeko’s first time shot which was still narrowly over the bar.
Roma’s hard work to equalize materialized in the 70th minute. Roma received a penalty after the referee thought Ismael Bennacer violated Pedro Rodriguez in the forbidden box.
Jordan Veretout, who became the executor, did his job perfectly to make the score 2-2. However, the score at 2-2 did not last long as Milan were back ahead 3-2 in the 78th minute through Ibrahimovic’s penalty.
The penalty was given after Gianluca Mancini was deemed to have violated Calhanoglu in the penalty box.
Roma didn’t give up after trailing 2-3. The visitors’ effort to equalize was fruitful with Marash Kumbulla’s header from a corner which made it 3-3 in the 84th minute.
Milan try to score a goal to win this match. However, the efforts of Ibrahimovic et al could be thwarted by Roma’s defense so that the 3-3 score lasted until the second half ended.
The final 3-3 score made Milan fail to continue the winning trend since the start of this season. Stefano Pioli’s team are also unable to distance themselves from Napoli, who are second in the standings.
Milan is currently still firmly at the top of the standings with 13 points. However, they are only two points ahead of Napoli.
Roma can improve its position after bringing home one point from Milan headquarters. I Lupi moved up to ninth with 8 points from five matches.
Meanwhile, two strong candidates to win the Scudetto this season, Inter Milan and Juventus are under Sassuolo, who unexpectedly finished third in the standings. Inter perched in fourth position, while Juventus are right under La Beneamata.
