Storms have never stopped attacking the giants from Spain, Barcelona. The pandemic and the 2-8 defeat of Bayern Munich in the Champions League still make an impression on Barcelona internally.
Lionel Messi’s corporation with Barcelona is predicted to cease at the end of this season. On the other hand, the club’s finances are being shaken because of the pandemic. Hence, Barca’s bankruptcy is a matter of time.
The Blaugrana is predicted to collapse in January 2021. This means that they only have two months left if the prediction is true. Barca management is currently thinking hard to find shortcuts. One of them is cutting wages of their players. The plan is each player will be cut 30 to 70 percent of their total salary.
The club’s interim president Carlos Tusquets has spoken in public for the first time since taking the reins last week. “We do not want to take money from anyone. We have to reduce short-term expenses. We hope to reach an agreement with the players and with all the club’s staff on the salary negotiation process. The essential thing at the moment is to lower expenses and look for forms of income that do not exist at the moment. ” Tusquets explained.
In addition, the deadline for implementing the salary cut plan is no later than Thursday (5/11/2020) if the club don’t want to collapse in January 2021. However, the plan has been opposed by many players. One of them is Lionel Messi.
Meanwhile, there are only four players who agree with the plan to cut wages. They include Sergio Roberto, Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Frenkie de Jong. Gerard Pique is even willing to cut his salary by 50 percent.
Apart from these internal problems, Barca are also declining in their performance. On the Spanish League stage, they have only won twice in six matches. The other four leagues have ended in two defeats and two draws.
In addition to the domestic league, Barcelona will participate in this season’s editions of the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa de España, and the UEFA Champions League. This season covers the period from 15 August 2020 to 30 June 2021.
