Bernie Ecclestone is reportedly helped with Sebastian Vettel’s move to the future Aston Martin team. The 90-year-old man really put pressure on owner Lawrence Stroll to take the four-time Formula 1 world champion.
“I told him how good Sebastian is still and that in the end it will be a win for everyone if the deal goes through. I listen to him and then give him my assessment of things.” Ecclestone said.
“Ferrari has always been a somewhat unclear team where domestic politics have always played a big role. Actually only at the time of Michael Schumacher was everyone pulling in the same direction.
“Fortunately Sebastian has a new challenge at Aston Martin next year. He will then give the doubters the answer that will not be given to his this year believe abilities.” Ecclestone added.
Vettel’s contract with Ferrari was not renewed, he has to leave Scuderia at the end of the 2020 season and a total of six year, without a title. The German driver will drive alongside Lance Stroll at Aston Martin for 2021.
“It’s a new adventure for me with a truly legendary car company. I have been impressed with the results the team has achieved this year and I believe the future looks even brighter.” Vettel said.
“The energy and commitment of Lawrence [Stroll] to the sport is inspiring and I believe we can build something very special together.
“I still have so much love Formula 1 and my only motivation is to race at the front of the grid. To do so with Aston Martin will be a huge privilege.” Vettel added.
Racing Point boss Otmar Szafnauer believes Vettel is still one of the best drivers in the world and will help Aston Martin into new era. And he also thinks the 33-year-old driver will play significant role in taking this team to the next level.
