The Formula 1 season 2021 could come up with a record calendar of 23 Grand Prix around the globe. According to reports, after three days of winter testing, the new season should start as usual in Australia circuit on March 21. A week later, Bahrain would already be on the schedule.
With stops on April 25 in Vietnam, the European season is set to begin on May 9 in Spain. Monte Carlo and Baku should then be a stop.
According to Auto and Motorsport, points will be driven in Montreal in mid-June. Before the start of the summer break after August 1st, F1 is planning stages in France, on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, in England and Hungary.
After the break there should be three-packs with Monza, Zandvoort and Spa as well as Singapore, Suzuka and Sotchi. The final is traditionally scheduled in Abu Dhabi in December.
The F1 wanted to host 22 races this year, more than ever. But the season was shaken up due to coronavirus outbreak. The race only started in July in Austria with a double event.
The premier class motorsport has currently completed twelve Grand Prix, five are to be added with the final point on December 13th in Abu Dhabi.
For next year a street race in Jeddah is planned ahead of the country constructing its own purpose-built circuit in Qiddiya on the outskirts of Riyadh.
It is currently very questionable whether 23 events can be held in 2021 due to coronavirus outbreak. The F1 bosses also include GP in a provisional calendar, which may not be sustainable for logistical reasons. This has contractual reasons that also have to do with potential claims for damages.
