Luis Figo Supports Lionel Messi’s Decision to Leave Barcelona

In the 2020 summer transfer market, Lionel Messi surprisingly announced that he wanted to leave Barcelona. Messi’s decision actually received support from Portuguese football legend Luis Figo.

Messi himself finally canceled leaving Barca last summer because he was involved in a contract dispute. However, there is still an open possibility that the player nicknamed La Pulga will leave the transfer market next summer when his contract expires.

Therefore, until now Messi is still widely associated with various clubs, such as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). No doubt, this condition sparked many reactions.

However, Figo actually considered that there was nothing wrong with Messi’s desire to leave Barca. Although La Pulga has been considered an icon of Barca itself, if the player feels uncomfortable, then leaving to another club is something that is normal.

“I followed Messi’s news and his attempt to leave Barcelona this summer like all football lovers. It was full of surprises and excitement, “said Figo, quoted from Marca, Sunday (11/15/2020).

“He will have his reasons and reasons for making that decision. I don’t know what happened before. All clubs want to have players like Messi, but then it depends on many factors, “he continued.

“For example, like the financial situation of the club, the costs that are implied by the salary for the club, as well as the wishes of the players. However, in general in life, if you do not want to be somewhere in the end nothing can hold you, “said Figo.

Figo himself is a player who has been in a situation as difficult as Messi. He was a Barca player in mid-1995-2000. At that time, Figo was very much loved by the Camp Nou public because of his neat appearance.

Figo even won the trust to bear the captain’s armband for the Blaugrana. However, in the summer of 2000, Figo decided to leave Barca. Figo’s move then became the main focus because he defected to Real Madrid, which is actually Barca’s eternal rival.

When El Clasico was played, Figo was even thrown at the head of a pig by Barca fans because he was considered a traitor. However, he didn’t really bother with it. Because Figo’s decision to leave Barca was unanimous and no one can change it.
