Manchester United are reportedly unhappy with their defensive line-up. The club has been looking for a new defender since last summer but failed to find a good one.
United currently still depend on Harry Maguire and Victor Linsson-Liendelof, but on one side they have a golden chance to sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane in next winter.
Varane is a central defender and he has all the attributes that a good player in his position needs. He is just 27 years old and still has his best years ahead of him.
United are desperate for a huge win. They have so far recorded a total of just ten from their seven matches. According to reports, Varane is seen as s perfect partner for United skipper Maguire and the answer to their woes. This is far from the first time Varane has been linked with United.
In fact, Sir Alex Ferguson was looking for a young Varane back in 2011 but United then chose to sign on Phil Jones instead and Varane signed for Madrid. While the Jones era in United is now coming to an end, Varane is once again relevant for the Red Devils.
The Frenchman has a contract with Madrid that extends until the summer of 2022, but Los Blancos are keen to extend with the midfielder. Should they not come to an extension, however, there is the possibility for United to buy him already this summer.
During his time at Santiago Bernabeu, Varane has won three La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues with Madrid as well as the 2018 World Cup with France in a glittering career. He will be one of the most important player in the future to United and undoubtedly the future captain.
