Premier League Results: Liverpool Beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1

Liverpool managed to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Week 20 Premier League match which took place on Friday (29/1) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a final score of 3-1.

Liverpool’s victory came from goals from Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Sadio Mane. While Tottenham’s point came thanks to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

With this victory, Liverpool returned to the top four with a point of 37. They are four points behind Manchester City who are perched at the top.

Tottenham previously had the opportunity to enter the top four if they won. But now they are stuck in sixth position with a value of 33. This is the group’s fourth defeat, and the second time against Liverpool.

Arriving as guests, Liverpool have been in charge of the match since the first half even though the games of the two teams were fierce.

Mane had a golden opportunity in the second minute after receiving a through pass from Mohamed Salah. But he failed to score.

Before long, Tottenham found Liverpool’s goal through Son Heung-min. But the goal was written after VAR Son’s review showed offside.

Liverpool’s opportunity appeared again in the ninth minute. However, a header from Thiago Alcantara failed to be exploited by Roberto Firmino.

Tottenham threatened again with Son escaping without escort and trying to thrill Liverpool’s goal which Alisson Becker was able to catch.

The match continued fiercely until the time of injury time before halftime. In the 45th minute, the Reds were then able to score the first number thanks to Firmino.

In the second half, aka the 47th minute, Liverpool were able to double the score thanks to Trent Alexander-Arnold who grabbed the ball from Mane’s shot.

Behind, Tottenham responded with a goal from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the 49th minute who shot from outside the penalty box.

Liverpool actually scored the third goal in the 57th minute through Salah, but VAR ruled out the shot after Firmino was caught handball first.

Tottenham’s effort to catch up was made difficult when Liverpool managed to score the third goal in the 65th minute thanks to Sadio Mane.

After Liverpool scored the third point, the intensity of their attacks decreased by playing more relaxed in possession.

In the remaining time, Tottenham could not take the opportunity to catch up. They had difficulty getting into the Liverpool penalty box until the long whistle sounded, no additional goals were created.
