Spain La Liga: Real Madrid Silenced by Levante

Real Madrid suffered a 1-2 defeat to Levante in the Spanish League continued at the Alfredo Stadium in Stefano, Saturday (30/1).

Los Blancos have to play with 10 people from the ninth minute. The referee gave a red card to Militao for violating Sergio Leon.

Lacking the number of players, Madrid took the lead through Marco Asensio’s goal in the 13th minute.

Levante replied when the game was running for 31 minutes. A Jose Morales first time shot broke into the Madrid goal and changed the numbers on the scoreboard to 1-1.

Entering the second half Madrid looked hard to score the second goal. Karim Benzema and his friends were aggressively seeking opportunities.

Levante looking for an opening through the counter attack. In the 61st minute through VAR it was decided that Levante would get a penalty following a violation by Vinicius Jr, who had just entered to replace Eden Hazard.

Thibaut Courtois kept the score 1-1 by warding off the ball shot by Roger Marti.

Marti only managed to score a goal against Courtois in the 78th minute which gave Levante the lead.

Until the referee blows the final whistle, the score does not change. Madrid have lost their fourth this season.

This result also made Karim Benzema cs fail to cut the distance from Atletico Madrid who are at the top of the standings. Madrid is still 7 points adrift of Atletico.

Los Blancos goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois confirmed that his team did not give up on chasing the top of the standings.

Courtois is aware that Madrid will find it increasingly difficult to catch Atletico after this defeat. However, he invited colleagues to keep fighting until the end.

“We have to always fight,” Courtois said on the club’s official website.

“La Liga continues until May, but they continue to win and stay at the top. We have to look for reactions, win our games and make sure others lose.”

Courtois deeply regretted the red card that Militao received. According to him, playing against Levante with 10 players is very difficult.

“We had to fight today. We played 10 men from the seventh minute and in the end it made football difficult,” he continued.

“Levante is in good form, they play good football and are always difficult, and if you play with ten people it makes it even more difficult.”
