Inter Milan continue to overshadow AC Milan in the Italy Serie A League standings after winning 4-0 over Benevento at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium, Sunday (31/1).
Inter scored the opener in the seventh minute. Christian Eriksen’s free kick, which Riccardo Improta tried to block, actually lodged in Benevento’s goal.
Behind one goal, Benevento tried to increase the tempo of their game. But they struggled to break into Inter’s highly organized game in this match.
Meanwhile Inter itself is increasingly eager to attack Benevento. They locked the visitors in their own penalty area, so Benevento was forced to park the bus.
Andrea Ranocchia’s incident with Gianluca Lapadula had made Benevento hope for a penalty, but the referee ignored it.
La Beneamata continued to press Benevento so that the mid-table team was unable to provide significant resistance.
Lautaro Martinez failed to complete the opportunities he got in the first half. The Argentine player was only able to score in the second half.
Entering the second half, Inter did not lower the tempo of their attacks. Nerrazurri appeared dominant and bombarded the visitors’ goal with their attacks.
Just four minutes into the game, Lautaro Martinez successfully slammed the ball into Benevento’s goal using Christian Eriksen’s free shot that hit the crossbar. But the referee did not approve the goal because Lautaro was caught offside first.
Eight minutes later, Lautaro finally got his name on the scoreboard. Escaping from Benevento’s three defenders, the striker fired a low shot that Montipo failed to anticipate. The score changed to 2-0 for Inter Milan’s excellence.
10 minutes later, Romelu Lukaku also enlivened the Inter goal party. Starting from Montipo’s blunder, Lautaro gave Lukaku a short pass and Lukaku finished perfectly. The 3-0 score turned into Inter Milan’s advantage.
Winning three goals, Conte made several substitutions. Arturo Vidal, Alexis Sanchez and Stefan de Vrij came on for Nicolo barella, Lautaro Martinez and Milan Skriniar.
The entry of Sanchez brought a special blessing for Inter. The Chilean player gave Lukaku a breakthrough, and again Big Rom had no trouble shooting the ball into Benevento’s goal. Score changed to 4-0 for Inter’s advantage.
Inter’s dominance continued until the end of the match. Nerrazurri made some pretty dangerous chances, but it was 4-0 unchanged for Inter’s lead.
Thanks to three points in this match, Inter maintain their position as runners-up, where they are now two points adrift of AC Milan at the top of the standings. While this defeat left Benevento trapped in 12th place in the Serie A.
