Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has suggested Luis Suarez would be better off joining Juventus than his current club Atletico Madrid.
The Uruguayan striker rumored to be on the verge of a transfer to the Italian club Juventus in September, which already reached its limit of non-European Union players.
“We’re changing, of course, and it would have been better if Luis Suarez signed for Juventus instead of Atletico Madrid because he’s still in the Spanish League.” Koeman said.
Koeman insisted he has no regrets over allowing Suarez to join Atletico last summer. The Dutch admitted that they are always proud of Suarez’s quality and the decision had made by the club and the striker.
“But that kind of decision, we had to make it, really tough ones but showing respect to the player, and I think that’s really important. And I still agree with what we did at that time.” Koeman added.
“It’s part of your job. You speak to the club, and when I came as a coach to Barcelona we had our opinions and I had the information out of the club, and then finally you make decisions.” Koeman said.
“You need to make these decisions because if it goes well then it’s OK, but if it doesn’t go well then it needs to be my way and that’s the most important thing.” Koeman added.
During his six years at Camp Nou Suarez scored 198 goals and had become the club’s third all-time top scorer. The 33-year-old striker is definitely one of the greatest players in the club’s history. He won four league titles four Copa del Reys and a Champions League.
