Will Tiger Woods Face Criminal Charges after His Accident?

Tiger Woods may have lost his life in the car accident he suffered on the steep stretch of Hawthorne Boulevard, which connects with Rancho Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills States.

The 44-year-old American, who suffered several broken legs and is currently hospitalised, will not face criminal charges.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Woods was on all five of his senses when he pulled off the road.

“It was an accident. He was lucid, no smell of alcohol, no evidence of any drugs, narcotics or anything like that that was being questioned,” Villanueva said.

However, the investigations are not over yet, as the authorities will review the contents of the black box to find out how fast the successful golfer was traveling.

“I was going at a relatively higher speed than normal. Because it is downhill, it inclines and also makes curves, that area has a high frequency of accidents. It is not uncommon.” Villanueva.

Similarly, the athlete’s mobile phone will be checked to see if he was using it while behind the wheel.

Wood crashed after he played a game of golf with Dwyane Wade. He was preparing for the Genesis Invitational tournament at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, California.

According to L.A. sheriff, it was not yet clear what had caused the crash. No other vehicles were struck, and there were no skid marks at the scene.

L.A. County sheriff’s Deputy Carlos Gonzalez arrived at the scene first and found Woods struggling to get out of the wreck.

“Mr. Woods was not able to stand under his own power. I spoke to him. I asked him what his name was. He told me his name was Tiger, and at that moment, I immediately recognised him,” Gonzalez said.
