Story behind the Kamehameha Celebration by Mount

Mason Mount explained why he celebrated the kamehameha style of the Dragon Ball anime at Liverpool vs Chelsea at Anfield Stadium, Friday (5/3/2021). Mason Mount scored the goal to bring the Blues to a 1-0 win in Week 29 of the Premier League.

Chelsea actually managed to open the advantage first in the 24th minute through a goal created by Werner. However, the referee assisted by the video assistant referre (VAR) considered Werner’s goal invalid after the player’s position was deemed offside.

On the other hand, Mount’s goal came after receiving a long ball from N’Golo Kante at minute 42. Not wasting a pass from his partner, Mount outwitted Fabinho in the penalty box. Mount then fired a right-footed shot that led to the left side of Alisson Becker’s goal. After scoring a goal, Mount then celebrated his goal by imitating Son Goku’s stance in the Dragon Ball anime in front of his teammate, Ben Chilwell.

This kamehameha stance is a gesture of joining the two hands on the left side of the waist. Then after the internal power is gathered, it is released forward to attack the enemy. After the match, the 22-year-old player also explained his reason for celebrating the kamehameha from the Dragon Ball anime.

In addition, Mount admitted that he was inspired by Kurt Zouma who often watched anime, including Dragon Ball. “We take a lot of flights for away games. I and Chilly (Chilwell) sit behind Kurt Zouma on the plane and he is always watching anime,” said Mount. “We always watched from behind him and that was the inspiration for the celebration. I said to Chilly, if I score a goal or he scores then we have to do it (kamehameha gesture). In the end I scored a goal today and we did it (Son Goku’s Dragon Ball anime) and the celebration is for Zouma too,” Mount said ending.

Meanwhile, the victory over Liverpool made Chelsea’s position move up to fourth in the Premier League standings. The Blues have now collected 47 points from 27 matches. Moreover, the result of this match against Liverpool made the Blues (nicknamed Chelsea) with Thomas Tuchel era not tarnished in 10 consecutive matches in all competitions. Of these 10 matches, Chelsea won six wins and four draws.

After the Liverpool vs Chelsea match, the Blues are scheduled to face Everton at Stamford Bridge, Tuesday (9/3/2021).
