Premier League results: Tottenham 2-0 win over Villa

Tottenham Hotspur won 2-0 over Aston Villa in the continued Premier League match at Villa Park Stadium, Monday (22/3).

Previously, Tottenham Hotspur last week was embarrassingly eliminated from the last 16 of the Europa League.

In this match they tried to make up for the disappointment but the chances they created in a counter-attacking situation ended with Sergio Reguilon’s cross cleared by the Aston Villa defense.

In contrast, Aston Villa threatened back through Trezeguet and Ollie Watkins, but goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was swift to secure danger, before then Matt Target threw away a measured cross from Bertrand Traore’s post.

Harry Kane tried to create the first chance for Tottenham in the fifth minute, but his shot was blocked by the defense.

Aston Villa attacked Tottenham several times, but no goal opportunities were created.

Tottenham took the lead in the 29th minute through striker Carlos Vinicius’ goal. Lucas Moura’s neat pass was executed without difficulty by Vinicius into a goal.

Midfielder Tanguy Ndombele fired a shot from outside the penalty area in the 43rd minute to double the position. However, Ndombele’s efforts had not yet led to Villa’s goal.

So far the Lilywhites defense line looks solid in facing the attack of the home players.

Anwar El Ghazi wasted Aston Villa’s goal opportunity. In the 62nd minute, El Ghazi had a chance to equalize but his shot was narrowly wide of the Tottenham goal.

Jose Mourinho’s team had the opportunity to add a goal in the 67th minute after Tottenham were awarded a penalty. The penalty was given because Matty Cash violated Harry Kane.

Kane, who became the executor of the penalty, successfully broke into Emiliano Martinez’s goal in the 68th minute. Kane shot to the right outwit Martinez who moved to the left.

Without additional goals for the rest of the match, Tottenham won 2-0 over host Aston Villa.

From this victory, Tottenham Hotspur have now risen to sixth place in the Premier League standings, or three points adrift of the top four.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa stuck in 10th place in the Premier League standings with 41 points, after four consecutive matches, Aston Villa did not feel the win.

The two teams are scheduled to return to play in early April following the international break, when Villa host Fulham and Tottenham travel to St. Petersburg. James’ Park to face Newcastle United
