Alpine driver Fernando Alonso has set himself the goal of winning the “Triple Crown” for the 2021 Formula 1 season.
The Spaniard won twice at the 24 Hours of Le Mans after two successes at the Monaco GP and tried to do the same at the Indianapolis 500, the last step separating him from his goal.
“I have worked hard to prepare to go back to racing in Formula 1 and the goal is to attack from the beginning. I want to improve even more as a driver.” Alonso said.
“I had a lot of learnings from the last two years outside of F1 and I want to consolidate and apply them. For example , different racing philosophies, driving techniques and approaches to work ethics.
“In terms of results, it is very difficult to predict. Last year, the mid-zone group was very tight, so this year anything can happen.” Alonso added.
Alpine have launched their first-ever Formula 1 car and livery for the 2021 season, with Renault’s rebranded team revealing a blue debut look.
“The car looks great and I have good memories of racing in blue in F1. I am not thinking about whether it is good or bad at the moment.” Alonso said.
“When I decided to join the project I already knew that the rules would be the same. It could have arrived. a new regulation in 2021, but at the same time, it will be good to see this year as a building block in terms of a return to F1 and work for the future.
“For me, a successful year would be running races as close to perfection as possible. This is what we have to do on race days and for that I am prepared.” he added.
