Cleveland Cavaliers superstar Andre Drummond is reportedly wanted by several NBA teams. However, everything seems to indicate that next season he will be playing with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat are other teams that have shown interest in the 27-year-old released after he terminated his contract with the Cavaliers.
The pivot could have the guaranteed starting position due to the situation in which the Californian team finds itself, which is the most successful in history.
The Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as strong front-runners to sign center Drummond, sources told ESPN on Saturday night.
“Drummond clears waivers on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET but is expected to formalize his decision to join the Lakers as soon as Sunday,” a league source told ESPN.
“The Lakers’ star players and front office have been recruiting Drummond hard, selling him on the opportunity to step into the defending champion’s starting lineup,” a league source added.
The “Big Penguin” played very little time with the Cavs because he went through the Covid-19 pandemic coupled with the fact that he was later overshadowed by Jarrett Allen.
Drummond has a US$ 28.7 million contract with the Clevaland Cavaliers. This season he played 25 games and averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds.
The Lakers couldn’t count on LeBron James because he sprained his ankle after crashing into Solomon Hill in the game against the Atlanta Hawks .
The Nets have signed big names in recent months, including LaMarcus Aldridge and James Harden. Also on Steve Nash’s roster are Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
It is very common to see these four basketball players in the calls for the NBA All-Star Games.
