Arsenal look to face Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Sunday. Arsenal sit in third spot with 59 points, chasing their London rivals Spurs at 65 and the league leaders Leicester City who have 72. A season that saw many ups and downs for Arsene Wenger’s team is now in its final stage. Arsenal will look to clinch the three points in their upcoming London derby against Crystal Palace to close in the gap between them and Spurs
Arsenal come into this match with only two wins in their last six matches (2W 2D 2L). Palace have an equally bad record since the last six games with only one win in the last six (1W 3D 2L). Arsenal surely look the better side as they hope to pick up an 11th victory against Palace in the last thirteen meetings between the two sides. Arsenal had to come from behind last time when these two met in August and they just nicked it thanks to a 91st minute goal from Laurent Koscielny.
That being said, the Gunners have not been able to win the last three London derbies at home this season. To help their cause, Palace has also not been the most exhilarating of teams in London derbies this season as well, having picked only four points, fewer than any other club this season.
Palace manager Alan Pardew spoke to the press ahead of their meeting on Sunday, here’s what he had to say about the last time these two met
“We gave a good account of ourselves against Arsenal at home, we need to try to get something”
“Arsenal have some great players. There have been some very tight games against them recently. The home game was very, very tight.”
“There’s a bit more of a bounce in our step since these recent results. Our performances have been good since WBA.”
“They have some new players which have shaken it up a bit and they’ve done very well. There’s a few unfamiliar names to our guys.”
Palace are seemingly out of the relegation battle sitting at 16th spot with 38 points. However a victory would mean a great deal to both the clubs as they both aspire to finish with a high this season.
