9 Soccer Stars at the Tokyo Olympics

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics soccer will certainly be interesting because there are many star-status players who appear. Here are 9 soccer star players who will appear at the Tokyo Olympics.

Soccer at the Tokyo Olympics will start Tuesday (20/7). A total of 16 teams will compete for the football gold medal, which was last won by the Brazil at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The Tokyo Olympics regulates that players born on or after January 1, 1997, can play in soccer. Each team has a slot of three players over 24 years old to fill the squad at the Tokyo Olympics.

Not only senior players, a number of over-aged players selected to appear at the 2020 Olympics already have names and appear in top European competitions, such as the Premier League and Spain La Liga.

While Olympic football is an arena for young players, the prestige remains high. Countries that usually can’t be ‘noisy’ at the World Cup because they lose class, make the Olympics a means of achieving world-level titles.

Who are the world’s top soccer stars appearing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics? Here are the nine star players who will appear at the Tokyo Olympics:

1.Florian Thauvin (France)

The 28-year-old winger is no longer competing in Europe. Thauvin, who helped lead France to win the 2018 World Cup, chose to appear in North America with the Mexican club, Tigres UANL. Thauvin joins Andre-Pierre Gignac at Tigres, who is also in the France squad for the Tokyo Olympics.

2. Takefusa Kubo (Japan)

One of the things that makes Japan confident that it can make history at the Olympics is the figure of Takefusa Kubo. The Real Madrid winger, who is currently on loan at Getafe, has shone from a young age and is believed to be an Asian star on the European continent.

3. Guillermo Ochoa (Mexico)

In any event Mexico has never been the top seed. Mexico has always been considered a dark horse. Mexico is back as a dark horse at the Tokyo Olympics. One of Mexico’s key players to hit the ground running is 36-year-old goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

4. Marco Asensio (Spain)

If in Spain for Euro 2020 (2021) none of the Real Madrid players are called up, for the Olympic squad it is the opposite. One of those called up was Madrid star Marco Asensio. Spain last won an Olympic gold medal in 1992 in Barcelona.

5. Unai Simon (Spain)

A few days after being knocked out of Euro 2020, Unai Simon was called up by Luis de la Fuente, Spain’s coach for the Tokyo Olympics. Simon was one of Spain’s stars to the semifinals of Euro 2020, making David De Gea a substitute.

6. Dani Alves (Brazil)

Another old star who appeared at the Tokyo Olympics is wing-back Dani Alves. The former Barcelona and Juventus player who is now defending Sao Paulo will lead his younger siblings to seek solace from the failure to win the 2021 Copa America title.

7. Richarlison (Brazil)

As a team that never runs out of young talent, Brazil’s squad for the Tokyo Olympics is filled with young stars. One of them is Everton striker, Richarlison de Andrade. The player who has scored 10 goals for Brazil is expected to be the difference.

8. Eric Baily (Ivory Coast)

Although not the seeded team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Ivory Coast could be a surprising force. Because the West African peninsula has several stars who appear in the Premier League. One of them is Manchester United centre-back Eric Baily.

9. Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast)

One of the young players who is predicted to make an impressive appearance at the Tokyo Olympics is the Ivory Coast winger who is currently defending England club Manchester United, Amad Diallo. Although his flight hours are still minimal, Diallo’s quality has captivated the British giants.
