Ahsan/Hendra Win Easily in Tokyo Olympics First Match

Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan managed to beat Jason Anthony Ho-Shue/Nyl Yakura from Canada with a score of 21-12, 21-11 in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic badminton match.

The Ahsan/Hendra vs Ho-Shue/Yakura match is the first match of Group D badminton men’s doubles at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics which took place on Saturday (24/7/2021).

Competing at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Tokyo, Japan, Ahsan/Hendra as the second seed did not encounter significant difficulties to beat Ho-Shue-Yakura. The Daddies, nicknamed Ahsan/Hendra, only needed 27 minutes to win the straight game with a score of 21-12 and 21-11.

The two pairs played fast games at the beginning of the first game. After a draw at 5-5, Ahsan / Hendra increased the pressure and managed to win six consecutive points.

This made Ahsan / Hendra raced with an 11-5 advantage in the first game interval.

The large points difference continued to be maintained by Ahsan / Hendra in the second half of the first game. Ahsan’s hard smash made ‘The Daddies’ seven points ahead, 15-8.

Ahsan/Hendra’s impressive attack earned them game points at 20-11. After failing at the first opportunity, Hendra’s hit made Ahsan / Hendra win 21-12 in the first game.

Entering the second game, Ahsan/Hendra remained comfortable in controlling the advantage over Ho-Shue/Yakura. Ahsan/Hendra lead by five points, 9-4 before closing the interval with an 11-5 advantage.

The key to the success of Ahsan / Hendra’s superiority this time was ingenuity in front of the net. In several situations, Ahsan/Hendra managed to outwit Ho-Shue/Yakura who always stayed behind with a drop shoot technique.

Ahsan / Hendra’s game became more stable after the second interval. The combination of a hard smash with a slick ball placement made Ahsan / Hendra continue to win point by point until they were 15-7 ahead.

Ahsan/Hendra won match points at 20-11 and immediately ended the match at the first opportunity. 21-11 for Ahsan/Hendra at the end of the second game.

This victory over Ho-Shue/Yakura is a good asset for Ahsan/Hendra to look to the next match. Ahsan/Hendra will face Aaron Chia/Sooh Woi Yik (Malaysia) on Monday (26/7) followed by a match against Choi Solgyu/Seo Seung Jae (South Korea) the following day.
