Inter Millan striker, Romelu Lukaku, became a hot topic in the 2021 summer transfer market. Because Lukaku’s former club, Chelsea, wanted to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.
Italian journalist and European football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, informed Lukaku’s current situation via his Twitter. Based on information from Gianluca Di Marzio, Romano stated that Chelsea had made an offer for Lukaku.
According to Romano, Chelsea offered 100 million euros (approximately Rp1.7 trillion) to Inter. In addition to money, Chelsea also included Marcos Alonso in the offer in order to get Lukaku’s services.
The offer is huge during a pandemic, like now. However, Inter have not responded positively to Chelsea, according to Romano.
Romano says Inter rejected Chelsea’s offer because they don’t want to sell another star player this summer. Previously, Inter released Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) even though the Moroccan right-back had contributed greatly to the success of the Nerazzurri – Inter’s nickname – winning the 2020-2021 Italian League.
“Inter have received an approach from Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku. An offer of around 100 million euros includes Marcos Alonso as part of the negotiations,” Romano tweeted Tuesday (3/8/2021).
“The Inter board rejected the proposal because they wanted to keep Lukaku. They always thought Romelu was “untouchable,” he continued.
As is known, Lukaku is no stranger to Chelsea. The Belgian player played for Chelsea in 2011-2014.
Lukaku is unfortunately more often on loan than playing for Chelsea because of losing competitiveness. However, Lukaku has now become one of the most dangerous strikers in the world and Chelsea are keen to bring him back.
However, Inter do not want to lose Lukaku who has become their mainstay in the last two seasons. Inter are believed to be relying on the 28-year-old again to succeed in all competitions for the 2021-2022 season.
