Pecco Bagnaia Takes Second Consecutive MotoGP win in Misano

Pecco Bagnaia won the MotoGP race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on Sunday afternoon. The Italian was in the lead from start to finish and made no mistakes to take his second win in a row in the premier class.

Behind Bagnaia, the 2021 World Championship leader Fabio Quartararo was second and MotoGP rookie Enea Bastianini took his first podium finish in third.

Bagnaia started well and led into the first corner ahead of Quartararo and teammate Jack Miller. The Australian was aggressive in the first lap as he immediately passed the Frenchman.

Repsol Honda rider Maec Marquez had moved up to fourth place ahead of Jorge Martin, Pol Espargaro, Aleix Espargaro, Alex Rins and Joan Mir.

“It’s not an easy track, it’s one of the worst for me before coming to practice with the VR46 Academy.” Bagnaia said.

“And now it’s one of my favourites, so I really like to ride here, not just because I like the track but because it’s a really technical track, but because we are in front of our fans.

“So, the motivation was very high and I was ready to arrive here and to be fast like we are doing.” Bagnaia added.

In the MotoGP standings, Yamaha rider Quartararo has a lead of 48 points towards Bagnaia (186) and a 67 point margin towards Mir (167) with a total of 234 points.

“In Aragon, my pace was different, I was struggling much more, but here I’m feeling much more comfortable on the bike.” Quartararo said.

“It’s not a matter of me and Pecco, it’s a matter of me trying to do my best and then we’ll see. It’s not in my head that it’s only Pecco because I’m surrounded by many riders and we’ll see what happens after the first laps.

“The race is really long here, and let’s see what happens. But I think I have good pace with used tyres, and I’m confident that we can have a good result.” Quartararo added.
