“A pesar de esas finales que a un paso quedaron
Tiramos para el mismo lado
Siento que el futbol se volvió religión
Quiz a alguien mas le paso”
The lyrics above are an early fragment of the song La Scaloneta. The song that became popular after Argentina’s success in winning the Copa America in Brazil, last July 2021.
This song was composed by four brothers, namely, Pablo, Fernanda, Gonzalo, and Julieta. They are members of the Numana group who created the song as an appreciation for coach Lionel Scaloni and the entire Argentine squad. The squad got another trophy after 18 years of waiting. The team in the light blue and white uniform won the trophy at the 1993 Copa America.
On Sunday night, October 10, 2021 local time this song echoed again. The audience who packed the El Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti stadium, Buenos Aires sang together this hymn in support of Lionel Messi and his friends who faced Uruguay in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in the CONMEBOL zone.
This match is quite important, in order to maintain the existence of Argentina in second position standings. In the last match they only draw 0-0 with Paraguay. Meanwhile, the opponent they faced this time is quite difficult, namely Uruguay.
Uruguay, which was commanded by Oscar Tabarez, came with star players. There is Luis Suarez, Edison Cavani, Diego Godin, Francisco Valverde, goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and several others.
The game starts. The audience continued to sing while clapping encouraging the players. Not to forget flags and posters containing words of encouragement were flown. All dissolved in one goal for Argentina’s glory.
The players are aware of all that. And they don’t want to disappoint the fans who have gone to great lengths to support them. Messi and his friends looked amazing. They dance beautifully like Tango dancers. The result was three goals nestled in the opponent’s goal.
Starting with a lucky goal, Messi’s left foot kick outside the penalty box completed a pass from Giovani Lo Celso in the 38th minute. Six minutes later it was Rodrigo de Paul’s turn to display his goal with his right foot after receiving feedback from Lautaro Martinez.
Lautaro Martinez then made the party even more lively with his goal in the 62nd minute, again from Le Celso’s header. Not to forget the goalkeeper Emilio Martinez. The goalkeeper who some time ago went viral for his provocation to Manchester United players while strengthening his club Aston Villa made several saves that thwarted Uruguay striker Luis Suarez.
The captain Lionel Messi was quite satisfied with his team’s game that night. “We played a great game. Today was a difficult match and we had to win it and everything turned out perfect,” said the player who is now strengthening for Paris Saint Germain club.
Meanwhile, the visitors, Uruguay also managed to make themselves good guests by playing sportsmanship. Yes, the match that night was quite phenomenal because it managed to keep the referee from reaching into his pocket to issue a card. There was no yellow or red card that came out.
There are not many violations. Only fifteen times. Ten by Argentina and five by Uruguay. It’s been an amazing night. Everyone partying, all happy. Argentina is even more optimistic about the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Argentina now stays in second place in the standings with 22 points from ten games. While Uruguay is in fourth position with 16 points from eleven games.
