Mohamed Salah is currently rumored to be leaving Liverpool because he has not yet signed a new contract. However, in Salah’s latest statement, he seems to ensure that he will continue to defend the Reds as long as Liverpool continues to achieve positive results.
The debate that has arisen is related to Salah’s contract which has not yet been extended. Salah is tied for the summer of 2023 and he has no news of extending him like other players.
Reports suggest that the stumbling block is salary issues. It is rumored that Salah wants £500,000 per week like some of the highest-earning players in the Premier League.
So far, Salah’s salary is still in the range of 200 thousand and Liverpool’s request for a salary increase has not been realized. In fact, according to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, Salah deserves it.
But Salah, when asked directly, said that he was focused on winning game by game. He still looks at home in the team, let alone always win.
“I’m happy as long as the team keeps winning,” Salah told Liverpool’s website on Friday (10/15/2021).
“I always try to help, score goals and make the team win games – that’s the most important thing,” he continued.
“We have to always give our best to win something and I think we have the quality for that.”
“We have a top team, so we have to push ourselves to the limit and try to win something. I’m sure everyone thinks the same,” he said.
“That’s what we need, just to remember that we finished the season winning something.”
So far Salah has been linked with various top European clubs. However, Salah’s priority is in fact continuing to defend Liverpool.
