Boxing Preview and Prediction: Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk

Anthony Joshua will defend his trio of heavyweight titles against former cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on this Saturday.

The Briton was given no option but to postpone the undisputed heavyweight title unification fight with Tyson Fury, and then in response Usyk threw a hissy fit.

“I’m fighting a guy who is a 12-round fighter. So it would be silly of me to go in there bulky with my muscles screaming for oxygen.” Joshua said.

“I’ve been training like a 15-round fighter in this camp. I will be well-conditioned to fight. That is key. What happens when I train that way? My body adapts and takes its natural form. This is the form it has taken.” Joshua added.

The sportsbook’s favourite is Joshua. But don’t expect the fight to end in the first few rounds. The tendril is cold-blooded enough and is able to slow down his attacks for a couple of rounds in order to save energy or adjust the gameplay.

However, his dangerous side jabs and jabs can seriously spoil his plans. Joshua’s chances in this fight are rational. He gets only a small advantage due to speed, physical data and pressure.

“It’s a fight for the brain. Knowing what you’ve got in front of you and knowing how to deal with it.” Joshua said.

“You can either be aggressive, corner him throw everything at it. Or take your time, be clever, then knock him out.” Joshua added.

If Usyk can dominate Joshua’s attacks and make him fail, then he has a chance to wear down the puncher. But even a tired Joshua will be ten times more dangerous than Dereck Chisora. However, Usyk’s technical base may well be enough to hit Joshua and earn points. But you shouldn’t count on a knockout.
