Premier League Results: Chelsea Held Draw by Burnley

Chelsea were held draw by Burnley 1-1 in the 11th week of the Premier League at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Saturday (6/11).

This result is not good enough for the Blues who need to keep their distance at the top of the standings. On the other hand, Burnley wrapped up an important point to boost the players’ confidence.

The game had just started, Chelsea immediately kicked off a Hudson-Odoi shot in the 4th minute. Odoi shot twice, first shot blocked, second shot wide.

The 7th minute, it was Christensen’s turn to almost score. Odoi’s cross from the right wing was met by Christensen’s header, unfortunately the ball went wide to the left of the goal.

Chelsea continued to attack, but Burnley still defended well. Until the 30th minute, Chelsea wingers took turns threatening. Even Rudiger had time to make a header attempt.

Chelsea’s onslaught finally resulted in a goal in the 33rd minute. The same attack pattern, from the right side James sent an accurate cross into the penalty box to be greeted by Havertz’s header. Goal! Chelsea 1-0 Burnley.

Superior makes Chelsea play more loose. The attacks were launched in the remainder of the first half, but Burnley still held on.

The 1-0 score took the players to the locker room. Chelsea looks confident to win.

The game restarted, Chelsea trying to maintain dominance. In the 50th minute, Silva’s header was hard to the top right, unfortunately still hit the post.

The 53rd minute, Havertz’s turn to threaten. The German striker almost scored his second goal by welcoming Odoi’s pass, unfortunately the ball still bounced.

Chelsea are still attacking, but not in a hurry to build attacks. Barkley got several chances, unfortunately his shot was still not on target.

Burnley started to get a gap after the game entered the 70th minute. A few wasted chances seem to frustrate Chelsea.

In the 78th minute, Burnley’s attack surprised Chelsea. Lowton’s cross was reflected by Rodriguez for Vydra who was free standing in front of Mendy’s goal. Goal! Chelsea 1-1 Burnley.

Chelsea increased the tempo of the attack in the final 10 minutes, but no additional goals were created. The referee blows the long whistle. The 1-1 score closed the duel to a draw at stamford Bridge.

This draw did not change Chelsea’s position at the top of the standings, but they failed to keep their distance from the pursuit of Manchester City. As for Burnley, this one point is very important to try to rise from the relegation zone.
