Jose Mourinho apparently wanted to coach Bayern Munich, but his request was rejected by the German giants. That fact was revealed by the former director of Bayern Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Jose Mourinho, nicknamed The Special One, was one of the great coaches in this period. He gave titles to FC Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Inter Milan.
The Portuguese coach has never coached a club in the German League. However, Mou almost became Munich coach a few years ago, but that never happened and Rummenigge was the man behind Mourinho’s failure to coach Die Roten.
Rummenigge feels that Mourinho is not the right person to be coach of Munich. Even so, he likes the personality of Mourinho who is now coaching AS Roma.
“A few years ago, Mourinho wanted to come to Germany to work at Bayern, but we felt he was not the right person for the club,” Mourinho said.
“Personally, he has always made a good impression on me. I hope he can find success in Rome, because he has to win every day.”
Munich has always been the dominating team in the German League, and has always been a candidate for the Champions League title every season. The success of Munich is obtained without having to spend a lot of money on players in the transfer market.
Rummenigge said Die Roten’s philosophy never changes, because it is a balance sheet. Die Bayern always aim for the title but they think about the financial situation.
“Bayern Munich’s philosophy has always been the same: success, but with a balanced (financial) book.
It’s part of German football culture,” he said. “We may not make a lot of big splashes in the transfer market, but we can win the Champions League even without spending a lot of money, as we’ve already proven.”
