Serie A Results: Juventus Lost to Atalanta

Juventus lost 0-1 to Atalanta in the Serie A continued match at the Allianz Stadium, Turin, Saturday (27/11).

At the beginning of the first half, Atalanta immediately stepped on the gas. The Bianconeri struggled to keep up with La Dea’s pace, which attacked from the right and left.

However, entering 15 minutes of the game, Juventus could respond well. Massimiliano Allegri’s team several times threatened Juan Musso’s goal through a counter-attack scheme.

The result was sweet, Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata repeatedly penetrated the La Dea defense. However, these efforts have not resulted in a goal for the Bianconeri.

Preoccupation attack, Juventus actually conceded. Through a counter-attack scheme, Duvan Zapata (28 ‘) fired hard at Wojciech Szczesny’s goal which put Atalanta 1-0 up.

After that goal, the Bianconeri did not want to stand still and immediately returned to focus on building attacks. However, Dybala and Morata again could only touch the penalty box without scoring. As a result, Juventus trailed 0-1 to Atalanta in the first half.

At the start of the second half, Massimiliano Allegri changed tactics and went on the attack. Juventus defenders also play an important role in attacking.

The result was positive, Matthijs de Ligt’s kick almost tore Juan Musso’s goal. Not only that, Manuel Locatelli and Adrien Rabiot also often fired speculative shots.

However, Juventus’ efforts to equalize the position still did not succeed until entering the 70th minute. Meanwhile, La Dea are still focused on maintaining their lead over the Bianconeri. Gian Piero Gasperini’s team seem to be playing more carefully this time.

Gasperini also included Jose Palomino in the 71st minute to add to the solid defense of La Dea. Even so, occasionally Atalanta launched a counter-attack that threatened Szczesny’s goal. Until the match ended, Juventus were unable to score a goal so they lost 0-1 to Atalanta.

This result makes Atalanta continue their unbeaten run in the last eight matches in all competitions.

On the other hand, Juventus failed to get back on their feet after losing 0-4 to Chelsea in the Champions League.

Reflecting on the results of this match, Allegri said his players were in a hurry to score. Allegri also admitted that one goal for Atalanta’s victory was Juventus’ own fault.

“It was a performance similar to the one against Lazio, with Fiorentina and AC Milan,” Allegri told DAZN, quoted from Football Italia, Saturday (27/11/2021).

“We didn’t capitalize on the chances we created, Atalanta only had one shot on goal from our mistakes, and as I said yesterday, it was the goal that counted.”

“There was some anxiety, the players were rushing and rushing, but we have to keep improving and try to win games to gain confidence and regain composure.”

This defeat also made Allegri aware of the current level of Juventus. Even so, he will continue to fight to return Juventus to its natural habitat, namely the top flight.

“I think we have to be realistic. If we are in this position after 14 weeks (in the Italian League 2021-2022), it means this is our current value,” said the Italian tactician.

“Once we are realistic, we can take the pressure off and work better in a calmer environment. All we can do is try to get the best out of ourselves.”
