Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Set to Leave Arsenal Sooner?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was absent as Arsenal a comfortable 3-0 win over Southampton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insisted the former Borussia Dortmund striker dropped from the team for a disciplinary offense after missing the team’s final training session on Friday.

Former England international Trevor Sinclair feels like the 32-year-old Gabon striker played his last game for Arsenal.

Sinclair, who played for Manchester City and West Ham in the Premier League, compared Aubameyang’s case to Matteo Guendouzi after leaving Arsenal in June 2020, and was loaned to Marseille.

“Discipline issues, missing training sessions, not training, letting your teammates down – as a manager you need to rely on your players.” Sinclair said.

“If the players don’t train, we’ve seen Arsenal do that to Guendouzi, this guy was acting badly, didn’t want to do everything for Arsenal, and had to pack up and walk out the door.

“Aubameyang’s case is not good. Unless Arteta feels there is a way back for Aubameyang, you can see this as the end of his time at Arsenal.” Sinclair added.

Aubameyang has arguably been the best striker in the Premier League since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, scoring 72 goals in 112 appearances across all competitions.

“Aubameyang has two years left on his contract and has earned a huge amount of money.” Sinclair said.

“This can happen sometimes with inexperienced coaches, you’re there to enforce the full discipline of all the players and treat everyone fairly, you can’t be tricky with the players. remaining players on the team.

“But sometimes young leaders don’t know how to deal with the situations. Aubameyang’s story may have been kept secret in the dressing room, but it will come out and the truth is it will come out, I think Arteta has had enough of it so decided to go public.” Sinclair added.

Aubamenyang has gone six top-flight matches without finding a score, his last goal for Arsenal was in a 3-1 win over Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium on October 22.
