Kylian Mbappe turned to Zlatan Ibrahimovic for advice regarding his future at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The future of Mbappe’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain has not yet seen a bright spot. As a result, the French passport player is often linked with moving to Spanish League club Real Madrid. Indeed, Mbappe’s desire to stay with the club that won the most Champions League trophies has been rumored since last season. Even Mbappe himself admitted at that time that Real Madrid was the most suitable destination for his career as a professional footballer.
“I will not be a hypocrite, my ambition is clear. We’ll see what happens,” Mbappe said in October 2021. “I’m tied to PSG and if I leave this summer (2021), I’ll only join Real Madrid.” Real Madrid also had time to submit a proposal to land Mbappe to the Santiago Bernabeu for 160 million euros. However, the negotiations stopped midway after Paris Saint-Germain did not let Mbappe go at that time. Mbappe’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain will expire at the end of the 2021-2022 season. This means that Mbappe could leave PSG this summer for free if new contract negotiations do not materialize soon.
Mbappe apparently has already prepared a step for his football career by asking Ibrahimovic for advice. This was admitted by the striker himself through his interview with French media, Le’Equipe. Ibrahimovic suggested that Mbappe leave Paris Saint-Germain and choose to pursue a career at Real Madrid. However, Ibrahimovic also positioned himself as a PSG side. He said that his former club should try to keep Mbappe.
“Only Kylian can say where he should go. It all depends on his choice and opinion. For me, I’m definitely leaving,” said Ibrahimovic. “But if I were PSG, I would try to keep him. He has to decide. PSG of course want to keep him, but does he want to stay?” he said.
“I also think that there are other clubs who are after him. If you are a manager, and you have the means to not want Mbappe, you are in the wrong career. Yes, he asked me and I said: ‘If I were you, I would go to Real Madrid’,” said Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
