Mooney VR46 Racing Team is one of the teams participating in the 2022 MotoGP World Championship. Valentino Rossi’s team is reinforced by two Italian riders, Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi.
Team VR46 announced Mooney as the main sponsor in early January. Mooney itself is an Italian company engaged in banking and payments. Before collaborating with Mooney as the main sponsor, the VR46 team was rumored to be sponsored by an oil company from Saudi Arabia, Aramco.
However, in the end Aramco did not become a sponsor of the VR46 Racing Team. As a result, they then cooperated with Mooney which is claimed to be one of the largest banking and payments companies in Italy. The name Mooney VR46 Racing Team will also be used in MotoGP 2022.

VR46 Racing Team will be strengthened by Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi. Luca Marini is known to be the half-brother of Valentino Rossi. This season will be Marini’s second year in MotoGP.
Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi who fills a seat in the VR46 Racing Team team this season is one of the debutants in the 2022 MotoGP. Just like Marini, Bezzecchi is also Rossi’s protege at the VR46 Riders Academy. Last season, Bezzecchi finished third in Moto2, behind world champion Remy Gardner and runner-up Raul Fernandez.
In addition, to fill positions behind the scenes, Rossi took people who were already familiar to him. Alessio Salucci or who is familiarly called Uccio was appointed as team director. Previously, Uccio had also held the position of director of VR46 Riders Academy. Then for the position of team manager for the MotoGP program, Rossi put his trust in Pablo Nieto.
Meanwhile for the Moto2 team manager is Luca Brivio. For information, the Mooney VR46 Racing Team will use the Ducati Desmosedici GP21 motorbike. David Munoz, who was once the chief mechanic of Valentino Rossi, will now be the Crew Chief for Luca Marini.
Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi will be accompanied by Matteo Flamigni, who was also a Telemetry Engineer for Rossi. Moreover, the position as coach and head of tire strategy are held by Idalio Gavira.
