Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker, Lionel Messi, has been the focus of much attention in the French League this season. This follows his performance which is considered sluggish, since his move from Barcelona.
However, one of the PSG legends in the 70s, Luis Fernandez, denied that Lionel Messi’s ability was considered declining. Instead, Luis Fernandez said Lionel Messi was still adapting to PSG’s way of playing.
“I saw him playing at Barca. There is speed with passing control, and that continues until now at PSG,” said Luis Fernandez.
With PSG, Lionel Messi has not recorded phenomenal results. The 34-year-old has only scored seven goals and nine assists from 22 matches in all competitions.
However, public doubts over the performance of La Pulga – the nickname of Lionel Messi – based on existing statistical records, do not apply to Luis Fernandez.
The 62-year-old man, Fernandez, considered that Lionel Messi was still contributing when PSG faced Real Madrid in the first leg of the last 16 of the 2021-2022 Champions League last week.
“At PSG, he carried the ball ten times. How would you like to play with him or highlight him?” When Neymar came back, Messi supplied the ball more, people when he was tired.”
In addition, Luis Fernandez confirmed that Lionel Messi still has big ambitions with PSG. “This person is not tired. I heard comments about it. He played a very good game. With PSG, he has ambition, although it was difficult at first. He’s thinking about the Champions League, and everyone wants to do it.”
