Ligue 1 Results: PSG beat Saint-Etienne 3-1, Mbappe scores brace

Kylian Mbappe managed to score a brace or two goals when Paris Saint Germain won 3-1 over Saint-Etienne.

Not only buying up two goals, Mbappe also managed to record one assist.

The PSG vs Saint-Etienne match is presented in the French League match at the Parc des Princes, Paris, Saturday (26/02).

The victory, which was also contributed by two assists from Lionel Messi, further catapulted PSG higher at the top of the standings which was increasingly difficult for their opponents to approach, including their closest rivals Nice who on the same day were held to a 0-0 draw by fifth-placed Strasbourg.

However, PSG are not the first team to score in a one-sided match against Saint-Etienne.

The visitors actually took the lead from Denis Bouanga’s goal in the 16th minute of the first half. This goal could not be separated from Danilo Pereira’s mistake when he controlled the ball.

Bouanga grabbed the ball who then immediately fired a left foot shot. PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was unable to hold the ball into the goal.

PSG equalized just three minutes before half-time when Mbappe continued Lionel Messi’s assist in the 42nd minute with his right-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the Saint-Etienne goal.

In the second minute of the second half Mbappe gave PSG a 2-1 lead and again he scored after getting an assist from Messi.

Five minutes later it was Mbappe’s turn to provide the assist for Danilo Pereira’s goal this time with a header following a corner in the 52nd minute.

PSG did not want to stop. They continued to pound the hosts until releasing 21 goal attempts of which eight were on target, in addition to dominating 62 percent of ball distribution.

But the score did not change 3-1 and this was enough to strengthen PSG at the top of the French League standings, on the other hand Saint-Etienne failed to stay away from the relegation zone.

They now have 22 points in 16th place, but this number is only one point above the bottom four teams who both have 21 points.

In another match a few hours earlier, Nice did not manage to distance themselves from the pursuit of Marseille after being held to a 0-0 draw by Strasbourg,.

This result is actually not too disappointing, considering that Nice lost two players in this match after both were given red cards.

First Dante who was sent off in the 48th minute, and followed by Justin Kluivert in the 85th minute, according to ESPN.
