Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League are getting bigger after defeating Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp feels his team’s chances of winning the 2021-2022 Premier League are still not much different even though they have just won 2-0 over Arsenal. Even though the victory over Arsenal made the distance between Liverpool and Manchester City, who are in first place, now only one point adrift.

Come to the Emirates Stadium, Thursday (17/3/2022), the Reds – nicknamed Liverpool – got fierce resistance from Arsenal. The home team was able to compensate for their slick game by buying and selling attacks that continued to occur from the start of the first half.

However, the Red Merseyside troops were able to take advantage of the negligence of the Gunners – Arsenal’s nickname – at the start of the second half. They also managed to steal two winning goals through Diogo Jota (54′) and Roberto Firmino (62′).

With these results, Liverpool is now only one point away from The Citizens – the nickname of Man City – who are currently sitting at the top of the rankings. As a result, the chances of Mohamed Salah and his colleagues to be the best in the Premier League this season are increasingly wide open.

However, Klopp does not think so. The German coach said that victory over Mikel Arteta’s fleet did not make his team the domestic league champions this season. Although on the other hand, he admits that being a point behind his closest rival is better than being 14 points away.

“We obviously had a good period. That’s what we need. We are one point behind Man City but it is still the same,” said Klopp.

“We have to win the next game. We have Watford, Man City and then the others.”

After this, in the next two weeks the majority of the Reds players will undergo international break matches with the National Teams of their respective countries.

Klopp also hopes that his men can return in a fit condition to be ready to fight for victory over Watford who will be their next opponent in the Premier League on April 2.

Of course Liverpool need the best players in order to compete for the Premier League title, which only leaves nine games to go.
