Pep Guardiola, the coach of Manchester City from Spain, revealed about the chances of his team who still have the opportunity to embrace the treble winners this season.
Recently, Manchester City have made sure of their qualification for the FA Cup semi-finals after beating Southampton 4-1 in the quarter-finals at St. Mary, Southampton, Sunday.
Quoted from the club’s official website, on Monday, in addition to securing a place in the FA Cup semifinals, Manchester City will also compete in the Champions League quarter-finals against Atletico Madrid and still sit at the top of the Premier League standings, one point ahead of Liverpool.
Furthermore, Guardiola said his players currently need a little rest during the international break before finally returning to compete in the last eight weeks to try to win all three titles.
“We are there. I think everyone needs a little rest. It will be good to see new faces shortly after this holiday week,” said Guardiola.
“After we came back, we knew what we had. We had the Champions League quarter-finals, we had the FA Cup semi-finals. The good thing for the team is this fact.”
The Spaniard went on to say it was similar to Manchester City last season because they were fighting for the title until the last week and that was something good.
Despite having the opportunity to end the season with three titles, Guardiola admits it is a difficult thing to achieve.
“Arriving in the last week of the season we are there fighting for the title. It will be good. I will smile at the start of the season in front of you at this stage and to be in this position,” explained Guardiola.
“How many times has that (treble) happened in this country Once. It will not be easy. It is hoped that players will return from the national team because it will be difficult to fight in many ways,” he continued.
