Manchester United Anthony Martial has finally come out of silence to decide on his departure.
The French winger left the Old Trafford in January 2022 to join Sevilla FC on loan without an option to buy, but Martial would even like to stay in Spain to continue his adventure with Sevilla.
According to the Daily Mail, the player left Manchester United to find playing time at top LaLiga club.
“For me it was the best option to play and enjoy football again. I lost it a bit in Manchester because I wasn’t playing ,” Martial said.
“I feel very good in Sevilla. The city is very good and we are a good team so for me it’s perfect. I play therefore I am happy. But I’m here until the end of the season and that’s it.” Martial added.
Martial admitted his goal to leave United soon when interim manager Ralf Ragnick arriving at Old Trafford.
“When he (Ralf Ragnick) arrived, my goal was to leave. I told him that I wanted to leave and that was it.” Martial said.
“He spoke to me and said: ‘if you want to stay, with the way you train, you will play if you continue to train like this’. But I wanted to have a new atmosphere and a new club.” Martial added.
The 27-year-old has a contract to 2024 and the club are understood to have an option to extend for a further year. However, Martial has confirmed he will not return to United next season.
“I asked United to leave because I wanted to play. I still have a contract but they know what I want, so we’llsee at the end of the season.” Martial said.
With Martial looking set to move on, United need for a new striker this summer has increased further.
Cristiano Ronaldo is now 37 and no longer able to perform at the highest level on a regular basis.
Edinson Cavani, meanwhile, has spent much of the current season with fitness issues and is also set to leave the club for free this summer.
