Fabio Quartararo Rejects to Talk about His Future with Yamaha

Monster Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo has rejected to talk about his future with Japanese manufacturer at the end of the 2022 season.

Quartararo’s current contract with Yamaha expires at the end of 2022. After expressing his frustration at the lack of progress at Yamaha and stating that he was open to all offers, he was asked if he now had a deadline to make his decision.

“No, I don’t have a deadline. I know I can take my time. I think it’s better to think calmly and take your time with these kinds of decisions.” Quartararo said.

“I do talk like this, but it’s not really complaining. If you start complaining in the third race you have 18 more to go. Complaining is of course not the right mentality, in the end you try to be constructive.

“Of course I’m frustrated today, but the good thing is that it’s back-to-back races, so now we’re going to focus on the Circuit of the Americas.” he added.

Quartararo crossed the finish line eighth at the end of the MotoGP race at Termas de Rio Hondo on Sunday. The Frenchman suffered serious grip problems during the race and was unable to make a fist against the riders around him.

“The big problem is the rear grip and the top speed. We already know about the top speed, but the lack of grip here was rridiculous” Quartararo said.

“The first two laps I was just fighting with myself. Especially in turns 5 and 6 you just have to go all out, especially in the first few laps.

“It’s an easy corner, but when you see another driver just pull away in such a corner, purely on grip, it’s really frustrating. The first five laps were a nightmare. Once there was a bit more Michelin rubber on the track it got better, but overtaking with our bike is really difficult.” he added.

The fourth Grand Prix of the season is scheduled for this weekend, the MotoGP riders and teams are currently traveling to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
