Premier League Results: Chelsea vs Leicester City match ends in a draw, the score is 1-1

Chelsea failed to get full points when they received the visit of Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea vs Leicester City match is presented in the Premier League match, Friday (20/5/2022).

The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Leicester City created a surprise for the hosts when the game had only been running for six minutes.

James Maddison managed to make Stamford Bridge silent because his goal gave the Foxes a 1-0 lead.

The goal was a hard slap for Chelsea. They also tried to chase goals to equalize the score.

Four minutes after Maddison’s goal, Trevoh Chalobah fired home from distance. Unfortunately, it can be stopped by Kasper Schmeichel.

Chelsea’s efforts just paid off in the 34th minute. Marcos Alonso managed to put his name on the scoreboard by utilizing a beautiful cross sent by Reece James. The position was changed to 1-1.

Chelsea maintained its dominance that was seen during the first half. Unfortunately, they were not able to get the second goal needed to beat their opponent. The 1-1 score lasted until the break.

The second half, Chelsea began to intensify attacks again. However, the fortress carried by Leicester City was too thick to penetrate, and made it difficult for the Blues attacking line to create chances.

Once getting a golden opportunity, Chelsea players even squandered it.

Romelu Lukaku sacrificed himself by giving the ball to an unmarked Christian Pulisic in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, Pulisic failed to convert these opportunities into goals.

Four minutes later, it was Antonio Rudiger’s turn to threaten the Foxes’ goal.

The defender fired home from inside the Leicester box but the ball was well stopped by Schmeichel.

After that, Chelsea’s attack more deadlocked. The neat defense and discipline presented by the visitors really allowed the Blues to be creative and create threats.

In the end, the 1-1 draw lasted until the referee blew the long whistle signaling the end of the match.

This 1-1 draw did not change the position of Chelsea, who are currently in third place in the Premier League standings.
