Petra Kvitova Two-time Wimbledon winner  found her rhythm in the grass-court tournament held in Eastbourne for the 2022 season.

The 14th seed had to drop the first set before advancing to the third quarter-finals of the 2022 season with a 5-7, 6-0, 7-5 win over hostess Katie Boulter in the third round of Eastbourne International.

The Czech last reached the quarter-finals in Miami earlier this season when she lost to champion Iga Swiatek. Meanwhile, the quarter-finals at Eastbourne International this week will be the eighth quarter-final that he plays on grass-court tournaments.

After struggling for an hour in the opening set, Petra Kvitova needed just 33 minutes to win without reply in the second set and neither player lost their serve in the decider until the final game.

“I started really, really well, but I just couldn’t keep it up in the first set. It was a fierce match, also quite long. I feel like I’m playing on clay and not on grass,” Kvitova said.

Boulter saved his only break point chance in the decider when he held on to serve for 2-2. The 14th seed dropped just six points in her six service games in the third set before she emerged victorious after 2 hours 23 minutes.

Standing between Kvitova and a place in the semifinals of the Eastbourne International is Boulter’s compatriot Harriet Dart who also needed three sets to beat Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia, meanwhile, has 12 straight wins – having won back-to-back titles at Nottingham and Birmingham – after picking up a 6-1, 6-2 win over host Jodie Burrage to book a quarter-final against the Ukrainian. , Lesia Tsurenko who frustrate Magda Linette 7-5, 3-6, 7-5.

In a match that lasted 70 minutes, Haddad Maia did not face many problems against Burrage who knocked out first seed Paula Badosa in the second round.
