Fabio Quartararo Quip Stewards at the Dutch MotoGP, What's Up?

Fabio Quartararo Quip Stewards at the Dutch MotoGP, What’s Up?

Fabio Quartarao, one of the MotoGP racers for the Monster Energy Yamaha team, was sentenced to a long lap penalty in the British MotoGP series.

Fabio Quartararo then satirized the MotoGP stewards for not accepting the decision.

Quartararo received the punishment for the first crash he caused at the 2022 Dutch MotoGP race last weekend.

Fabio Quartararo is known to have tried to overtake Aprilia rider Aleix Espargaro at Turn 5 on the fourth lap.

However, the racer nicknamed El Diablo slipped and then hit Espargaro’s motorbike and left the circuit. Luckily, the two racers were able to continue the race even though their positions were both thrown far away.

Because of this, the stewards also sentenced Quartararo. They considered that Quartararo’s actions endangered the safety of other racers.

No doubt, Quartararo was also sentenced to a long lap penalty in the next race, namely the 2022 British MotoGP. El Diablo then spoke about the stewards’ decision.

Through uploads on his personal Instagram account, the 2021 MotoGP world champion still doesn’t seem to accept it. Quartararo wonders why only his incident is considered dangerous. Even though throughout the 2022 MotoGP title there have been many accidents.

“Okay, long lap penalty for the next race. Now you can’t try to overtake because they think you’re too ambitious. From the beginning of the year several drivers made ‘accidents’ but it turned out to be mine which was judged to be too dangerous,” Quartararo wrote on Instagram.

“Congratulations to the Stewards for the amazing job you are doing. Next time I won’t try to overtake because I don’t want a penalty. Have a great holiday and see you at Silverstone.”

Perhaps Quartararo thought that the racing accidents committed by other racers were far more dangerous than what happened to him. An example is the Takaaki Nakagami incident which crashed into Alex Rins and Francesco Bagnaia at the 2022 Catalunya MotoGP.

Indeed when compared to him, the incident was much more severe. However, the stewards did not give any punishment to Nakagami.

So it seems natural that Quartararo doesn’t seem to accept the long lap penalty.
